The basics
What is MyPopover?
MyPopover is a service that sends a warm, vetted companion to spend an hour with an older adult. Think of it as the opposite of a caregiver — we're not there to do tasks or chores. We keep someone company.
Where are you available?
We're rolling out market by market — we meet every companion ourselves before they take a single visit, which keeps growth deliberate. Sign up for the waitlist with your ZIP and we'll email you the moment a vetted companion is available in your area.
How long is a visit?
Every visit is one hour.
Can I book recurring visits, like every Tuesday?
Not yet — we'll launch recurring bookings soon. In the meantime, it's easy to rebook the same companion from their profile.
Booking & payment
How far in advance do I need to book?
As far in advance or as last-minute as you like — you can request a companion for two hours from now. Whether one accepts depends on their availability.
When is my card charged?
For a single visit, we place an authorization hold when you request, and only charge it when a companion accepts. If nobody accepts within 24 hours, the hold is released.
How do bundles work?
Buy 5 or 10 visits upfront at a discounted rate. Credits never expire. When you book a visit, one credit is used.
What's the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the visit. Inside 48 hours, the visit is non-refundable. If a companion cancels or no-shows on you, you get a full refund and a free visit credit.
Can I tip the companion?
Not through the app, for now. Our flat pricing is intentional — no one should feel like they got different quality because they tipped differently.
Safety & trust
How do you vet companions?
Three ways: a criminal background check, an interview with our team, and reference calls we make ourselves. If any one of those raises a flag, we don't approve them.
Who are your companions?
Kind, reliable people with a natural way with older adults — students, second-career folks, retirees themselves, community members. You'll see each one's photo, bio, and reviews before you book.
How do we communicate with the companion?
Through our in-app chat, which opens once the booking is confirmed. We don't share personal phone numbers.
What if something goes wrong during a visit?
Call us — there's a support number in the app. For emergencies, always dial 911 first.
For the older adult
Do they have to use the app?
Not at all. You book, you handle the coordination, we send the companion. Most of our bookings come from adult children, and the older adult doesn't have to touch a screen.
What if they're resistant at first?
That's common. We usually suggest framing the first visit as a favor to you — 'I'd feel better knowing someone dropped by this Tuesday.' After one or two visits, it usually speaks for itself.
Can companions help with things around the house?
Light tasks, yes — making a cup of tea, reading the mail together, a short errand side by side. We aren't a cleaning or caregiving service, and companions won't do heavy work or handle money, passwords, or accounts.
